Our Story
Our story began in 2009 when our Pastor, Simon Goncharenko, found himself moving to Midway, TX while pursuing his PhD in Systematic Theology at Southwestern Baptist Seminary in Fort Worth. God prompted Simon to plant a church in this area in a very clear and direct way.
Since then, over the past 17 years of our existence, we have:
- Taught the Bible in a faithful expository manner;
- Preached through many books, one thought unit at a time, including but not limited to Genesis, Ruth, Daniel, Gospel of John, Romans, 1 Corinthians, Galatians, Ephesians, James, Hebrews, Revelation;
- Mourned with our members and community in burying their loved ones;
- Celebrated marriages that honor God and display His plan;
- Baptized believers as young as 7 and as old as 80 because all are welcomed into the family of God;
- Welcomed babies and dedicated them to the Lord;
- And prayed for our community through sicknesses, financial struggles, relationships, and other life storms.

Our Vision
Christ Chapel Baptist is the church where: Â
- The Bible is the foremost source, authority, and guidebook for any endeavor;Â
- God’s Word is taught in an expository manner, in order to impart sound and precise doctrine;Â
- Earnest prayer is the heartbeat of the body;Â
- Authentic worship is the natural expression of the congregation’s love for their Savior;Â
- People serve one another exercising their spiritual gifts both locally and world-wide. Â
- Evangelism is a vital part of the DNA of each member individually and missions – of the corporate body.Â
- Stewardship is joyfully practiced, as members give back to the Lord as an expression of worship and thanksgiving for the many ways in which He blesses us daily.Â
Our Values

- Equipping the saints through Bible instruction and study;Â
- Proclaiming the gospel of Jesus Christ through preaching and personal evangelism, and any other means consistent with the teachings of the Scripture;Â
- Encouraging, supporting, and participating in missions work: local, domestic, and international;Â
- Administering the ordinances of baptism and communion;Â
- Encouraging biblical fellowship among believers;Â
- Serving other individuals, families, and churches by providing for physical, emotional, and spiritual needs, in the name of Jesus Christ;Â

Our Leadership
Our church is committed to Multiple Elder Congregational model of leadership because it is the one most closely aligned with the biblical precedent.
After planting this church and standing at its helm for the past 17 years, our founding pastor, Dr. Simon Goncharenko still leads us today. He is married to Alice, his companion of 28 years and together they have 4 children.
